At Massage by Melissa I work with many high risk clients. Clients who are elderly, have cancer, a compromised immune system, autoimmune diseases, etc. It's important to me that I go above and beyond to ensure the highest level of cleanliness and safety for them, for myself, and my family.
Many of the things listed below *should* be standard practice, but having received thousands of massages around the area, you'd be surprised how many places cut corners.

If you are under the weather (even if it's the tail-end of an illness), please reschedule your appointment. Massage by Melissa reserves the right to turn you away at your appointment time, and you will still be held liable for payment of your session.

- All clients receive clean sheets, towels, blanket, etc.
- Between all appointments, everything the previous client or I touched in the room is cleaned and disinfected using a hospital-grade disinfectant. (It is used properly and remains wet for the appropriate amount of time per the directions.)
- I have a polyurethane laminate cover under the sheets on my massage table which allows me to have a table heater, extra padding, etc. on my table (under the PUL cover). This cover is disinfected between each client. No sheet stacking or having to lie on top of other peoples' sweat or body oils here!
- My hands and arms are washed thoroughly before and after every massage. (And my feet are washed for clients receiving Ashiatsu.)
- If I am feeling under the weather but well enough to provide massage (such as a mild cold), I will contact all clients for the day. It is up to you to decide if you'd still like to receive your massage or if you'd prefer to reschedule. You will not be penalized if you choose to reschedule.
- My sheets/towels/blankets are washed in hot water with a mild detergent, and dried on high heat to kill any potential pathogens.
- The chair in my treatment room can be cleaned and disinfected, so you don't have to worry about sitting on top of other clients' oily leg, back, or arm marks.
