Please allow an additional 10 -15 minutes to fill out health history and polices and procedures forms (feel free to print and fill them out ahead of time - it's located under the tab "Forms") and to discuss your form as well as your goals for the session. Long strokes, and kneading, compression, and friction techniques are used to help decrease stress and tension. Light - medium pressure can be used with occasional deeper work as requested. (If you're looking for deep work for the duration of your appointment, please schedule Ashiatsu instead.) All relaxation sessions 75 minutes or longer will include hot towels used throughout the massage, and 90 minute massages include a hot stone spot treatment as well to create maximum relaxation.

Pregnancy Massage
Side-lying massage for soon-to-be mothers can be incredibly relaxing and therapeutic during a time of profound change. Prenatal massage can help reduce swelling, stress, and can decrease pain associated with sciatica and muscle spasms. You will be bolstered with multiple pillows for comfort.

Ashiatsu
Two parallel bars attached to the ceiling are used for balance and support, while gliding and compression techniques are applied with clean, soft feet. While Ashiatsu provides the same benefits as other types of massage, it also allows your therapist to apply deep, even pressure without the pain normally associated with a deep tissue massage (although even feather-light pressure can be used for those who don't like deep work). You can choose to have a full body Ashiatsu massage, or just have Ashiatsu on certain areas, and Swedish on other areas of the body. A hot towel foot wrap is included with 75 minute massages, and a hot stone spot treatment and hot towel foot wrap are included with 90 minute massages.

Oncology (Cancer) and Post-Oncology Massage
Whether you are currently undergoing cancer treatment, or have been cancer-free for many years, there are still certain adjustments that may need to be made during a massage to ensure your safety.
Over 40% of people in the US will have cancer at some point in their lives. Massage by a therapist untrained in oncology massage can have serious repercussions. Melissa has advanced training in oncology and post-oncology massage, and has the knowledge to provide a safe massage. A thorough health history will be taken and the massage will be tailored to your specific needs. Your initial appointment includes a free 30 minute consultation. Subsequent appointments will not include the consultation unless requested.

Therapeutic Massage
A gentle mixture of modalities including Swedish, Dermoneuromodulating, lymphatic drainage, etc. is used to treat specific or chronic issues such as plantar fasciitis, headaches, TMJ issues, and low back pain. Therapeutic massage is for those looking to focus on just one or two particular issues, rather than having a full body massage, and light - medium pressure can be used with periodic deeper work as requested. (If you are looking for deeper work for the duration of your massage, please schedule Ashiatsu.) 75 minute massage include a hot towel foot wrap, 90 minute massages include a free Hot Stone Spot Treatment as well as a hot towel foot wrap.

Hot Stone Spot Treatment (Add to any 30, 60 or 75 minute session.)
Heated, oiled stones are used to massage a chosen area of the body for 10 minutes to aid in relaxation. (The stones are not stationary.) If you suffer from headaches, you might choose a hot stone spot treatment for the back and neck, or if you're a runner you might choose the legs, etc. This doesn't increase your treatment time, but is a fantastic addition to any massage for its relaxation and therapeutic effects.
